AR or Alphabetical Reiki
What follows comes under the heading “experimental reiki”. I believe it should be treated as another possible “tool” for those who feel led to use it. It still needs some “polishing up”, but here it is now for what it’s worth. It also appears on the authors website at http://www.reikidowsers.free-online.co.uk
The use of Western alphabetical letters as supplementary Reiki symbols, mnemonics and/or supportive texted messages.

Please give author and origin if you wish to quote from this!!
Using AR, in the ways set out below, is meant to be used as a supplement. It is not meant to take the place of the Reiki you have learnt, or of traditional Reiki symbols.
Traditional Symbols.
Our traditional symbols are generated much as the pictograms used in many languages or as instant patterns. As such they should not switch our mind to it’s analytical state (often referred to as “right brain activity”). I mention the analytical state to remind us that in Reiki we are acting through the Spiritual part of ourselves and should not be encumbered by spending a lot of thought on what we are doing and why we are doing it!
These symbols find their home in us at our Attunement. As the symbols, and their attribute(s), become a part of us, they can help in all Reiki activity.
We may or may not use symbols on a regular basis. But is important that, if used, they are used as we have been taught, or as we feel guided.
Advantages in using AR.
Fortunately we don’t have to remember a meaning or attribute for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet. Only 7 to 9 letters are used – this is a good “manageable” number.
Some advantages in using the alphabet as a supplement to our Reiki symbols, is that: -
· We can visualise, or draw, naturally from left to right, as with reading.
· The letters are already well known.
· A simple sequence of letters is used.
· They can serve as reminders (or mnemonics) of the main uses of Reiki.
· They can be sent along with distant Reiki healing.
· They can be sent to other AR users (near or far), as text (sms) messages.
AR Meanings.
AR uses the following letters:
B H I K R S T plus O and W (for group work). Also Lower Case h i and k.
Some lower case letters can also be used, but it is suggested that you make a start by only using upper case, or no more than a total of about 9. Move to additional letters if you feel that you need the extra fine tuning which a larger number of alphabetical symbols may bring. It is important that you don’t overload with more than you need. And if you feel you have all that you need already – then you don’t even have to start with AR!
As these letters are to be understood in a somewhat similar way to the conventional symbol, it is useful to see a representation of the symbolic attribute as shown within the shape of the letter. This is explained below.
We will look at the letters (upper and lower case) in the order they will appear. Lower case doesn’t mean lower importance!
I Represents “I” or “I AM”.
The vertical line of the “I” represents you as a full person i.e. one consisting of Spirit as well as Body. We know we are all greater than just the physical body we are made of! The upper serif represents your link to Reiki. The lower serif represents your grounding in the Physical World. In the fullness of your consciousness you are also I Am.
You are the channel for Reiki so it’s here we begin.
i Represents your real inner Spiritual Self from which Reiki is sent on it’s way. It is also your Inner Eye who knows intuitively what needs to be done and how things really are.
S Turned on it’s side it’s like a wave of Energy. It’s the Ki being Sent.
The use of “SS” symbolises Additional Ki and “SSS” means Ki which is Ongoing as far as the sender is concerned.
RK The word “Reiki” has two pictograms “Rei” (Universal) and “Ki” (Energy). Similarly we the use of “R” and “K” together represents Reiki.
B Reiki Blessing(s).
H Reiki Hugs. Two people with arms outstretched.
h Represents a Warm Handshake (Reiki hands are usually warm!)
K A Reiki Kiss – similar in shape to an X, but it’s a reiki one!
k Represents Kindness, Concern and/or Sympathy.
T “To” – The act of Reiki Travelling to it’s destination. If it comes to a “T” junction it knows which way to Turn.
Y “You” The person Receiving the Reiki. The upper V of the Y represents arms and body open to receive. The Reiki enters the V funnels of Chakras and moves to the person where needed.
W In Group distant healing etc -“We” - where it may take the place of I. The many arms of W represents more than one sending.
A In Group distant healing etc – “All” - where it takes the place of Y. It looks like two mirrored Y’s propping each other up! They have a need!
Examples in Using AR.
Note: Combined letters can become as one symbol
As a part of a Reiki Treatment.
Let’s take an example:
During a treatment you visualise or trace out the following AR – in much the way you would use a traditional Reiki Symbol.
ISSRKkTY Meaning “I Send a lot of Reiki Sympathy To You”
Once you have learnt the easy meanings of the letter symbols the tracing or visualising will have meaning too!
Notice that we always begin with an I or a W and end with a Y or an A.
Also, remember that S’s stay together and RK is our Reiki.
As, or along with, a Reiki Distant Healing
ISRKBTY Meaning “I send Reiki Blessings to you”
In both this and the earlier example you can superimpose it with a suitable traditional symbol if you wish.
As a Text message via a mobile phone (Why shouldn’t Reiki Practitioners share in the texting fun!)
ISSSRKHTY Meaning “I send continuous Reiki Hugs to you”
Perhaps a good thing they aren’t physical hugs or you might squash the life out of the poor soul!
This, and the previous example, can be sent both in distance Reiki and texting – the one complementing the other.
You can vary or change the AR to suit you and your group, but the above should be sufficient to form the basis of any universal usage.
This was meant to be practical and fun. If you think it’s something for you and your Reiki Friends, do please try it. You will find that it can work and bring extra blessings to you and yours.
Enjoy! John wishes you Reiki Blessings!
