Natures Way Organic Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil
Cold Presses/Expeller Pressed? What does it all mean?
Expeller pressing is a chemical-free mechanical process that extracts oil from seeds and nuts. This method of oil extraction is an alternative to the hexane-extraction method used for many conventional oils. The raw materials are squeezed under high pressure in a single step. All cold pressed oils are expeller pressed, but the temperature is controlled.
We have information on file that our coconut oil is processed under 104 degrees F. There is no external heat applied during the pressing.
You might think that Virgin Coconut Oil is a strange item to have amongst our Anti Candida selection but let us explain:
Coconut Oil has some of the best natural anti fungal compounds available. The popular anti candida remedy, Capryllic Acid is made from coconut. You can eat virgin coconut oil straight off the spoon and can use it to replace all of your cooking oil. Natural coconut oil contains a whole lot more and if you a serious about ‘fighting the fungus’ then the best place you can begin is with your diet. Out with the added sugars, the junk foods, the processed foods, the junk oils and replace these with good foods and good fats like olive oil, flax seed or fish oils, butter and coconut oil.
In todays world of highly competitive product advertising, we have been brainwashed to believe that fat is a bad word. For millenia populations have survived on butter, olive oil, lards, marine oils and coconut and palm oils. Research shows that some saturated fat is in fact necessary for human health and for utilisation of some vitamins. Research shows that the medium chain fatty acids help to increase metabolism and are more easily digested than fats found in other oils.
The saturated fat in coconut oil is unlike the fat found in meat or other vegetable fats. It is identical to a special group of fats found in human breast milk which have been shown to improve digestion, strengthen the immune system, and protect against bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.
Coconut Oil & Candida
Research now shows that the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil kill candida. Caprylic acid, well known for its anti candida properties, is one of the fatty acids found in coconut oil. Two other medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil have also been found to kill candida.
A study done at the University of Iceland showed that ‘capric acid, a 10-carbon saturated fatty acid, causes the fastest and most effective killing of all three strains of Candida albicans tested, leaving the cytoplasm disorganized and shrunken because of a disrupted or disintegrated plasma membrane. Lauric acid, a 12-carbon saturated fatty acid, was the most active at lower concentrations and after a longer incubation time.’ This study shows great promise that all the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil work together to kill Candida albicans.
